Covid-19 update -summer holdiays

We regret to inform you that, due to recently released government guidelines for holiday clubs, Rising Stars Sports are not able to run any sports camps throughout the Summer Holidays.

There’s some confusion regarding groups and activities at the moment, so here’s a few of the issues we face:

Most “Holiday Clubs” can have a ratio of 15 children to 1 adult. As we are a Sports Club, this is further reduced to 5 children to 1 adult. This means we would need a minimum of 3 coaches for the average camp attendance. A side effect of this is that most sports in groups of 5 aren’t very exciting for the children! In addition to this, all sports must now be done outdoors. With the unpredictable British weather this would then cause problems – If it were to rain, the guidelines change, and we then couldn’t continue any sport indoors.

Children currently attending school, and those returning in September, are in ‘Bubbles’ to avoid unnecessary contact with too many others. If we were to run the holiday camps this would cause children from different ‘Bubbles’ to interact, increasing the risk of catching and/or spreading the virus.

Having already missed the Easter Holiday and May Half-Term Camps, to now have to cancel the Summer Holiday Camps is very sad and I’m extremely disappointed to do so,

For those of you that are not aware - I have recently completed an undergraduate degree and in September this year I am starting a PGCE. This is a yearlong course, at the end of which I will be a qualified primary school teacher! With the uncertainty of the current situation I have not yet received a timetable for my course, meaning I am unsure whether I will get any Half-Term breaks. I’m therefore not able to confirm whether Rising Stars Sports will be able to run during the period of September 2020- Summer 2021. As soon as I have this information I will be in touch, hopefully with good news and some dates for Camps!

Finally, I would like to not only thank you for your support over the past 2 years, but I would like to thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Many thanks

Jodie Caller (Lead coach at Rising Stars Sports)
